Faculty Survey on Assessment—Response Analysis Highlights The QEP Design Committee distributed a survey to all faculty to open a dialogue about assessment in higher education. A response analysis indicates: Many faculty want to do away with Institutional Assessment Day and try new assessment techniques (60% YES, 25% NEUTRAL, 15% NO). Faculty perceive the importance of gathering student assessment data and using the data to improve academic programs. They strongly believe that assessment data should be used to improve programs, but it should not be used to evaluate individual teaching effectiveness. · Faculty are very interested in teaching-development opportunities on the topics: · Using assessment data to improve learning · Designing embedded assessment · Developing and using rubrics · Basics of assessment · Outcome mapping |
