More and more introductory level English writing class instructors adhere to the "Expressionist" camp of composition studies. Consequently, their students' personal experiences are the class content. Research is often not included in the writing process. Period. So the librarians at NCWC opted to not push for involvement in freshman classes. However, we have implemented a few introductory literature class research assignments like ENG 201 - Intro to World Literature. In this case, sophomores create a topic-specific pathfinder using required information resources in many different formats and they must cite each in MLA style. |
