Professors often place items that they want their students to use on Reserve at the library. The library maintains course reserves to make sure heavily used resources are available for students when they need them. 

• Reserve items may be designated strict reserve (3-hour circulation period for use in the library), 1-day, 3-day, or 1-week reserve.

Library materials or faculty-owned materials, including books, periodicals, and audiovisual media, may be placed on reserve. Copyright law does not permit the library to place on reserve photocopies of material that is protected by copyright.
