The Reference and Instruction
Librarian
is responsible for developing and implementing
an ambitious information literacy program for
the Wesleyan community of scholars. This
librarian collaborates with others to provide
effective reference service to students,
faculty, and staff, and to provide instruction
in information literacy at all campus locations.
This librarian also promotes access to the
library’s print and electronic resources by
enhancing and maintaining the library website
and creating instructional guides and tutorials.
Other responsibilities:

Establishes effective systems for
maintaining statistics on reference service
and for evaluating the Library’s reference
services.

- Provides
general and specialized reference service in
person, by telephone, by e-mail, and online
and participates with other librarians to
provide virtual reference statewide through
NCKNOWS. Provides point-of-service
bibliographic instruction to assist with
patron use of print, media, and electronic
resources. Collaborates with other
librarians to develop effective reference
services.

- Maintains
and enhances the NCWC library website.
Develops effective web resources to serve
the students, faculty, and staff at all
campuses. Assists in developing the NC
Wesleyan College library website and
effective web resources to serve the
students, faculty, and staff at all
campuses.

- Serves as
a liaison to faculty in several disciplines,
assisting in collection development,
informing faculty of library resources and
services, and strengthening relationships
with faculty.
