Assembled by Gregory Williams and Allen S. Johnson, this collection was displayed in the W. Carleton Noell reading room (Browsing room) of the library. Williams and Johnson also co-authored Tar Heel Maps: Colony and State, 1590-1995, availible through the North Carolina Wesleyan College Bookstore. Mr. Williams is a 1975 graduate of the college and a member of the board of trustees. Dr. Johson is a history professor at Wesleyan and has been a distinguished member of the faculty for over 30 years.
This collection was purchased by North Carolina Wesleyan College after Black Mountain College closed. It is a collection of items from the college's library as well as works by and about people that were connected with Black Mountain College. Dr. Leverett T. Smith is the curator.
